About The Process
“It's just me, you, and our creation.”
Getting a custom gown made with Sarah Varca is an exclusive and unique experience. Sarah will personally work with you from your first consultation to your wedding day, designing, patterning, building, fitting, and altering your vision herself. Sarah Varca takes on only a limited number of custom gowns a year, so she can dedicate herself fully to each bride.
“I love my custom brides. Each is a muse and together we create an original work of art. I would love for you to be one of them. “
Frequently asked questions:
Can Sarah Varca bring my vision to life?
Collaboration with our clients is at the heart of our process. While we are open to a variety of bridal projects, we only take on a select number of custom clients every year that we feel are true to our brand. That said, please don't be afraid to reach out and tell us about your vision!
Will Sarah Varca replicate a gown I fell in love with on the internet?
That is a hard no. We do not copy out of respect for our peers and their creativity, as well as our own.
Can elements of different gowns be put together to create my own?
The design process is collaborative. We will bring our expertise to your ideas and always be honest about what works and what doesn't. No one wants you to look like Frankenstein, let alone his bride.
How far ahead of time do I need to book?
There is a six month minimum for brides in Chicago. For out-of-town brides, the timeline is determined on an individual basis and by how much they are willing to travel. Contact us to learn more.
How many meetings/fittings do custom brides typically have?
Typically custom brides meet with Sarah for:
2 design meetings before selecting the fabrics and finalizing the design
1 mock-up fitting in muslin fabric
2-3 fittings in fashion fabric
How much does a custom gown cost?
Price is entirely dependent on design. The scale of the project, along with the materials chosen, determine the cost. That said, custom gowns typically start at $6000 and can go up to $10,000 and jumpsuits/party-looks at $3000 and go up to $5000. Note: alteration and fitting fees are built into the price of a custom Varca gown. Initial design consultations with sketches are $50, which will be applied to the cost of your gown if you move forward with the process.
